The Ascension Catholic boys’ basketball team (0-1) opened the 2014-15 season against 5A opponent Ponchatoula on Nov. 29 and lost 63-54.

Junior guard Kaleb Winchester, in familiar fashion from previous years, led the Bulldogs’ scoring sheet with 21 points, while senior teammates Cleveland Fefe added 15 points and Delmond Landry scored 13 points.

The Bulldogs led Ponchatoula 11-8 at the end of the first quarter, but only scored a total of five points in the second quarter and were down 19-7.

Ascension Catholic will next play at Holden on Dec. 8 and will finally return home on Dec. 19 to host Family Christian.
