Ascension Catholic softball survives three late runs from East Ascension to win 4-3

Ascension Catholic senior outfielder Aimee Prejeant throws a ball from the outfield in the win against East Ascension on April 1.

The Ascension Catholic Bulldogs softball team (15-3, 7-0) continues its dominance after a 4-3 home-win against 5A opponent East Ascension (16-6, 2-1) on April 1. Pitcher Julia Beck led the way with 10 strikeouts, and two runs batted in. The win extended ACHS’ win streak to 12 games.

Beck quickly got out to her usual ways and pitched shutout ball from the mound until the final inning. The Lady Bulldogs’ defense gave up three runs before Beck finally picked up the final strikeout to retire the Lady Spartans side and end their comeback efforts.

The Lady Bulldogs aren’t strangers nor are the shy about knocking off 5A opponents this year, as they’ve beat a West Monroe team 8-6, and Live Oak 4-1 earlier this season.

ACHS will return home on April 10 to take on Vandebilt Catholic. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
