MLB Pitch, Hit and Run competition rescheduled for May 8

DONALDSONVILLE – Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez announced Thursday the parish recreation department’s Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run (PHR) competition scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the South Louisiana Fairgrounds, has been rescheduled for Friday, May 8, at 5 p.m.

The PHR competition is a free, one-day event for boys and girls ages 7-14. Boys and girls compete separately and participants have the opportunity to compete in four levels of competition including Locals, Sectionals, Team Championships and the National Finals at the MLB All-Star Game.

Participants may register online at www.ascensionparish.net, fax the registration form to (225) 473-9931 or email Ajia Morand Mitchell, parish recreation program coordinator, at amitchell@apgov.us.

Forms are also available at the PARC offices - 300 Railroad Ave., Donaldsonville, and 45175 Paul Rd. Ext., St. Amant.

According to MLB’s website, competitors compete in four age groups: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14. Age is determined as of July 17, 2015.

Prizes and awards will be given at each level of competition and competitors will receive an item for their participation. Prizes at different levels of competition include certificates, medals, trophies and other awards. National Finalists will receive a trip to the All-Star Game.
