Tigers Stadium voted Best Stadium by Athlon

BATON ROUGE – Tiger Stadium has been ranked as the best college football stadium along with having the best game day atmosphere, in a poll conducted by Athlon Sports that was released on Monday.
In a poll of 15 college football experts, which included the likes of Bruce Feldman and Stewart Mandel of Fox Sports, Jeremy Fowler of CBS Sports, and Travis Haney of ESPN, LSU easily outpaced Ohio State’s venue as the best in college football.
Oregon’s Autzen Stadium, Kyle Field in College Station, and Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, rounded out the top five.
Tiger Stadium finished with 120 of a possible 150 points and appeared on 13 of the 15 ballots. LSU finished with seven first place votes from the panel. Voters were asked to rank stadiums from 1 to 10 with a first place vote being worth 10 points. Ohio Stadium was the next closest with 105 points, followed by Autzen Stadium with 64 points.
LSU brings a nine-game winning streak in Tiger Stadium into the 2014 season. In nine years under Les Miles, LSU has gone undefeated in Tiger Stadium four times and lost only one game four other years. Miles guided the Tigers to a school-record 22-game winning streak in Tiger Stadium over a three-year span from 2009 to 2012.
Heading into 2014, LSU has won 31 of its last 32 games in Tiger Stadium. Dating back to 2009, LSU’s only two losses in Tiger Stadium have come against teams ranked No. 1 in nation – Florida on Oc.t 10, 2009 and Alabama on Nov. 3, 2012.
LSU’s Tiger Stadium capacity increases to over 100,000 in 2014 with the opening of the new south endzone addition.
