Will Anderson Jr. becomes consensus All-American; 5 from Alabama football earn spot on AP teams

Alabama football officially has a consensus All-American on its roster for 2021.

Sophomore linebacker Will Anderson Jr. became a consensus All-American on Monday when the 2021 AP All-America teams were announced. He earned a spot on the first team after also finishing as an All-American via the Walter Camp Football Foundation and the Football Writers Association of America. Two other organizations, Sporting News and the American Football Coaches Association, have yet to announce their All-America teams; they are also part of the five outlets that determine consensus All-Americans.

If Anderson earns a spot on those teams, too, he will be a unanimous All-American. Only three of the five are required to be a consensus All-American.

Joining Anderson on the AP All-America first team were quarterback Bryce Young and receiver Jameson Williams. Alabama had the most players of any school on the first team with three. This marks Young's second All-America selection and Williams' first.

The Crimson Tide also had offensive tackle Evan Neal on the second team and safety Jordan Battle on the third team. Neal is also one All-America selection away from being a consensus All-American.
