BATON ROUGE - LSU football wide receiver Jack Bech is entering the transfer portal, he announced on Twitter Tuesday.

Bech's production took a step backward this season after catching 43 passes for 489 yards as a freshman a year ago. He dealt with injuries and a small target share in 2022, only recording 16 receptions for 200 yards.

"In every stage of life there's change and I feel that my opportunity to grow as a player is elsewhere. This has been the hardest decision I've ever had to make and a lot of thought and prayer has gone into my decision," Bech wrote.

Bech was a part of a crowded receiver's room this season, alongside Kayshon Boutte, Chris Hilton, Brian Thomas Jr., Malik Nabers, Kyren Lacy and Jaray Jenkins. The corps was only expected to grow deeper next season, with LSU on track to adding top-100 prospects Shelton Sampson Jr. and Jalen Brown, four-star recruit Khai Prean and three-star Kyle Parker.

Bech's decision also comes in light of Boutte's surprise announcement on Monday that he is returning to LSU for the 2023 season.

Bech was a four-star recruit and the No. 11 recruit in Louisiana at St. Thomas More when he committed to LSU's 2021 class.
