Lane Kiffin says Auburn football should hire Deion Sanders as coach: 'He'd do great'
Asked Wednesday if he had an interest in the Auburn opening, Kiffin declined to comment, reaffirming his happiness at Ole Miss and stating that the Rebels (8-1, 4-1 SEC) have "something special going."
He went on to give Jackson State coach Deion Sanders a vote of confidence when asked about his potential candidacy.
Sanders has led the Tigers to their first 8-0 start in program history.
"I think he'd do great," Kiffin said. "I think that's a great name and they should hire him. Great recruiter. Great name. This is a different world we're in now because recruiting has always been important. But now we have the portal. You can change a roster faster than you ever could before, and you could lose a roster faster than you ever could before."
Auburn announced that it was parting ways with Bryan Harsin on Monday, and Kiffin is reportedly one of the top choices for Auburn brass to fill the opening.
Kiffin arrived at Ole Miss prior to the 2020 season, and has racked up a 23-9 overall record in Oxford.
The Rebels are in the midst of an open week before they host Alabama on Nov. 12 (2:30 p.m., CBS).
