Ascension has carried itself well over the years in proving that it’s one of the best parishes in the state, when it comes to baseball.

The area always features a wealth of talent. Much of that talent will find its way to the next level.

This season looks to be no different.

As Ascension’s baseball teams open their 2017 schedules, here is one of the 10 parish players to watch this year:

Tre’von Mitchell (Donaldsonville)

First-year head coach Garrett Maum is trying to change the culture at Donaldsonville and rebuild the baseball program. He sees sophomore Tre’von Mitchell as a key piece in that transformation. As a freshman, Mitchell hit a blistering .478, and Coach Maum thinks he has the potential to be one of the best catchers in the parish.
