Ascension Parish saw many tremendous performances by their basketball players and teams this past season. Now, it is time for the Donaldsonville Chief to unveil its All-Parish teams for both boy’s and girl’s basketball.

All six high-schools in Ascension had at least one player make the team.

East Ascension had nine athletes honored—five coming from the boy’s team and four coming from the girl’s squad.

The East Ascension boy’s team went 26-6 during the regular season, won District 5-5A and entered the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in Class 5A, before losing in the second round.

The girls finished the season on a 22-game winning streak, clinched the district championship and earned the No. 2 seeding in the 5A playoffs. However, like the boys, they were upset in the second round.

Five players from Dutchtown made the All-Parish teams—three coming from the girls and two from the boys.

The Dutchtown girl’s team went 21-9 during the regular season and reached the second round of the playoffs.

After just winning 13 combined games during the previous two years, the Dutchtown boys won 17 games this season and reached the playoffs for the first time in three seasons.

Donaldsonville had two boy’s players make the team, as well as two girls.

Both teams made strong runs to the second round of the playoffs in 2016-17.

Three St. Amant athletes made All-Parish. Two selections came from the boy’s team, and one came from the girl’s squad.

The boy’s team finished 20-11 during the regular season and reached the playoffs, while the girls missed out on the postseason.

Ascension Christian had two players make the All-Parish girl’s team after a history-making season that saw them win their first ever playoff game.

Finally, one Ascension Catholic player made the All-Parish boy’s team.

The Bulldogs made a return to the playoffs for the first two in two years. Once there, they reached the second round.
