Chief unveils All-Parish basketball teams

After a successful basketball season in Ascension, the Donaldsonville Chief has released its All-Parish teams.

For the boys, St. Amant had the most selections with four. The Gators won 23 games in 2018, captured a share of the District 5-5A regular-season title and won their first playoff game since 2009.

East Ascension and Donaldsonville each had three selections.

East Ascension went 20-9, was the District 5-5A Tournament runner-up and reached the second round of the playoffs. Donaldsonville also reached the regional.

Dutchtown had two players make the All-Parish team. This season, the Griffins won their first playoff game since 2014.

As for the girls, Dutchtown had the most selections with four. The Lady Griffins won 18 games this season.

East Ascension placed three on the squad. They had the greatest success of any team in the parish as they brought home the program’s first-ever state championship.

Both Ascension Christian and Donaldsonville had two players make the team.

Ascension Christian won a share of the District 6-1A title and reached the quarterfinals. Donaldsonville also made the playoff field.

Finally, St. Amant had one player make the team. This season, the Lady Gators reached the playoffs for the first time in four years.
