ACHS girls finish fifth at indoor track meet

Last weekend, the Ascension Catholic boy's and girl's track teams performed well at the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Indoor track championships at the Carl Maddox Field House.

The Lady Bulldogs had the strongest finish of the two as they landed in the No. 5 spot. The boys finished tied for 15th.

Episcopal won the Division-II boy's meet with a total of 47 points, slightly edging out Lusher Charter with 42. Franklin, Southern Lab and Jewel Sumner rounded out the rest of the top five.

Ascension Catholic ended with 10 points. That put them in a four-way tie for 15th, along with St. Mary, Ascension Episcopal and E.D. White.

The only top-three finish the Bulldogs were able to secure was in the 4x800 relay. Ascension Catholic finished third with a time of eight minutes and 49.67 seconds.

Lusher Charter won the Division-II girl's meet as they barely squeezed by Episcopal by a score of 49-46.

Parkview Baptist finished in third, Brusly in fourth and Ascension Catholic landed in the No. 5 spot with a total of 28 points.

Three Lady Bulldogs were able to earn top-three finishes in the meet.

Sophie Daigle had the best finish as she was runner-up in the 1,600 with a time of five minutes and 37.38 seconds. Teammate Stephanie Breaux was close behind in third with a time of five minutes and 38.71 seconds.

In the 3,200, Breanna Bernard finished in third with a time of 12 minutes and 2.92 seconds.
