Donaldsonville boys take second at Brusly meet

The Donaldsonville boy's and girl's track teams both competed in the Red and Gold Relays at Brusly High last week. The Tigers performed well--finishing as runners-up, while the Lady Tigers finished in sixth.

The Madison Prep girls won the event, narrowly edging out Live Oak by a mere 2 points. Brusly, Dunham and Lee rounded out the rest of the top five.

From the track, Shai’Honesty Mitchell had the best finish for Donaldsonville as she took second in the 200 with a time of 27.10.

Kelsey Daggs earned a third-place finish in the 100 with a time of 13.49.

The Lady Tiger 4 x 100 relay team took third place.

From the field, Donaldsonville earned two second-place finishes. Demarius Johnson was runner-up in the high jump with a jump of four feet and four inches. Kaylynn Foster was second in the shot put with a measurement of 34 feet.

As for the Donaldsonville boys, they finished as the meet's runner-up behind Capitol. Madison Prep, Live Oak and Dunham rounded out the rest of the top five.

Ronald Whittington had a huge day for the Tigers as he earned three of the four individual victories for Donaldsonville.

From the track, Whittington won the 110 hurdles with a time of 17.32, and he won the 300 hurdles with a time of 41.66. From the field, he won the long jump with a jump of 21 feet and four inches.

The Tiger 4 x 100 relay team took home first place with a time of 44.97.

Christian Bell took second in the 100 with a time of 11.85, and Tamerick Zachary was third in the 800 with a time of two minutes and 13.25 seconds.

Along with Whittington's victory from the field, Davon Wright took first place in the shot put with a measurement of 45 feet and three inches. Wright also finished third in the discus event with a measurement of 107 feet and 10 inches.
