DHS track has productive weekend

The Donaldsonville boys and girl’s track teams made the trip to Plaquemine High over the weekend to compete in the Green Devil Relays. Both teams secured top-three finishes.

The girls finished as runners-up, while the boys finished in third.

Donaldsonville’s third-place finishes came from Jalair Johnson in the shot put, Tahj Brown in the javelin, Tyrae Phillips in the 100-meter dash and both Theron Taylor and Kelsey Daggs in the 200.

Two girl relay teams finished in second. The team of Daggs, Keiro Deza Johnson, L’nysia Johnson and Quinntrycee Bell was runner-up in both the 4 x 200 and 4 x 100.

The boy’s team of Taylor, Phillips, Ladarius Jackson and Christian Bell took second in the 4 x 100.

L’nysia Johnson was second in the long jump, Christian Bell was second in the 100 and Davon Wright took runner-up honors in the discus.

The Donaldsonville boy’s 4 x 200 relay took home first place.

They also had three individual performers that won.

Quinntrycee Bell won the high jump for the girls.

For the boys, Christian Bell won the 200, and Wright won the shot put.

This led to Wright being named the meet’s Field MVP.
