After another successful regular season, the Ascension Catholic volleyball team is headed into the postseason with a high seeding.

The Lady Bulldogs will enter the Division V playoff field as the No. 4 seed in the state.

It was an amazing season for Ascension Catholic as they clinched the district title by finishing a perfect 8-0 in league play. Only two of those victories required more than three sets.

In addition to the Lady Bulldogs' dominance in the district, they were able to rattle off 14 victories in their final 16 matches.

In Ascension Catholic's final regular-season match, they hit the road for non-district action against Woodlawn.

The Lady Bulldogs cruised to an easy straight-sets victory, never allowing the Lady Panthers to score more than 12 points in any of the three frames.

Grace Villa had a match-high 12 kills, while she added four digs and three aces. Rae'Shaun Malancon was right behind with 10 kills of her own.

Michayla Spano led the match with 31 assists.

The victory allowed them to finish the regular season with an outstanding overall record of 29-10.

With such a superb mark, the Lady Bulldogs were awarded the No. 4 seeding and a first-round bye in the postseason.

Ascension Catholic will not have to play until the second round begins on Monday, Nov. 9.

They'll host the winner of the first-round matchup between the No. 13 seed and district rival St. John and No. 20 Delcambre.

St. John finished the year just 15-20 and lost both meetings with the Lady Bulldogs this season by straight sets.

Delcambre finished just 9-22 during the regular season.
