ACHS competes in weight-lifting meet at Woodlawn

The Ascension Catholic weight-lifting teams competed in a meet at Woodlawn High last week. Both the boy's and girl's teams ended the event with third-place finishes.

In the girl's division, Lutcher won the meet with a score of 49. Port Allen was in second with 31, and Ascension Catholic was close behind with 25 points.

The Lady Bulldogs earned one first-place finish when Brandi Landry won at 114 with a total of 625. She squated 225, benched 125 and deadlifted 275.

Michahlyn Daigle finished second at 123 with a total of 590 pounds. She squated 205, benched 110 and deadlifted 275.

Ascension Catholic earned four third-place finishes with Lauren Landry, Paige Joseph, Isabelle Abadie and Elizabeth Latino.

Lauren Landry finished third at 105 with a total of 445. Joseph totaled 580 at 123, and Abadie totaled 645 at 148.

Latino tallied the Lady Bulldogs' biggest total at 685 pounds at 165. She squated 270, benched 115 and deadlifted 300 pounds.

In the boy's division, Assumption came away the winner with a total of 55 points. Walker finished in second with 39, and Ascension Catholic finished a distant third with 18.

No Bulldog was able to bring home a victory, but two lifters took second-place finishes .

Owen Theriot finished second at 114 with a total of 550 after squating 185, benching 105 and deadlifting 260.

Nick Milano finished second at 132 with a total of 865. Milano squated 330, benched 210 and deadlifted 325.

Ascension Catholic's final top-three finish came from Mason Klack. Klack finished third at 125 with a total of 635. He squated 205, benched 130 and deadlifted 300.
