The Ascension 15U Blue captured a district championship in Golden Meadow last week.

The Ascension 15U Blue recently won the 2016 District Tournament. Ascension traveled to Golden Meadow last weekend to take the title back home to Ascension Parish.

All of the players and coaches fought hard and overcame a lot of obstacles that were thrown their way. Their scheduled game for June 18 was postponed because of thunderstorms and rain until 8 p.m. that night.

The team defeated Golden Meadow with a 19-1 win and had a very late night leaving the ballpark at about 10:30 p.m. They had to return the next day at 9 a.m. That game against Terrebonne was also delayed—this time for two hours.

The team played hard as they were ahead 3-0 until the top of the fifth when Terrebonne scored and defeated Ascension, 4-3, in the seventh.

Ascension then turned around and played Golden Meadow again at 5:15 p.m.—defeating them, 11-2. Ascension was not done. With it being a double-elimination tournament, they had to face Terrebonne once again for the district title. The game didn’t begin until 11p.m.

The players, coaches, parents and fans were exhausted but pulled together and overcame. Ascension played a hard game all the way to the end, where they prevailed over Terrebonne, 3-2, to take home the district championship.

The organization would like to thank all the coaches, players, parents and fans for all their hard work and dedication. They are looking forward to bringing home the state championship in July.
